Starbucks Workers Across Los Angeles Are Going On Strike

Starbucks workers in Los Angeles have initiated a strike as part of a broader five-day labor action that also includes baristas in Chicago and Seattle, It began on December 20, 2024. The strike is organized by Starbucks Workers United, protesting what they describe as the company’s failure to make progress in contract negotiations, particularly over wages, staffing, and schedules.

The union claims that Starbucks has not honored a commitment to reach a labor agreement by the end of the year and has proposed minimal wage increases for unionized workers while offering more substantial packages to non-union stores.

This strike comes at a critical time during the holiday season, potentially affecting the company’s busiest period. The union has hinted that the strikes could expand to hundreds of stores nationwide if their demands for better compensation, improved working conditions, and recognition of union rights are not met.

Experience a Taste of Greece In Long Beach

Yo, if you're ever in Long Beach and looking for a spot that's gonna make you feel like you've been transported to a cozy corner in Greece, you've gotta hit up George's Greek Cafe in Belmont Shore.

This place? It's been around since '99, and let me tell you, it's all about that family vibe. Started in downtown Long Beach, but now they've got this sweet spot on 2nd St. where you're surrounded by all sorts of cool, quirky shops.

The food at George's? Oh man, it's legit. They keep it real with their recipes straight from the family cookbook. We're talking about using the best extra-virgin olive oil straight from Greece and some premium New Zealand lamb - that's how you know they're serious about their grub.

And the atmosphere? It's like walking into your grandma's house if your grandma was Greek - warm, welcoming, and just the right amount of cozy. Whether you’re chilling with the fam or having a cute date night, this place makes you feel like you're part of the crew.

Their dishes are packed with flavor, and the portions? Just enough to make you feel satisfied but not stuffed. I'm talking about dishes that make you wanna take a pic for the 'gram but then you're like, "nah, I'm gonna eat this now."

So next time you're in the area, don't sleep on George's Greek Cafe. It's not just a meal; it's an experience where the food, the service, and the vibe all come together to give you that "I'm glad I came here" feeling. Trust me, this spot is a must-visit. You'll thank me later.
