JORDAN HIGH SCHOOL IN LONG BEACH IS GETTING A NEW $97.5 GYM & AQUATIC FACILITY

The Jordan High School gym is being demolished to make room for new sports facilities, which are expected to be ready by the start of the 2027 school year, as per district officials.
The $97.5 million initiative encompasses a new gym, an aquatic center with an outdoor pool, and updated locker rooms. Construction kicked off in October with an anticipated completion in August 2027, according to a Long Beach Unified School District spokesperson.
Separately, the school’s new stadium is projected to be operational by August for the 2025-26 academic year. This nearly $5 million project involves new bleachers, a 400-meter synthetic track, and an all-weather sports field, along with necessary infrastructure. Work on this began in May 2024.
These two developments are components of over $373 million in campus improvements that have been ongoing for over a decade, as stated by Brodhead. Renovations at Jordan commenced in 2014, primarily funded by Measure K, a bond measure passed by 71% of Long Beach voters in 2008. Additional funding includes $11 million from the state, $2.5 million from developer fees, with less than $200,000 coming from the city’s general fund.
