ALIJAH ARENAS, A USC BASKETBALL COMMIT, WAS HOSPITALIZED AFTER A SERIOUS CAR CRASH ON THURSDAY

Alijah Arenas, an 18-year-old top USC basketball recruit and son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, was seriously injured in a single-vehicle Tesla Cybertruck crash in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley on Thursday, according to a law enforcement source.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. in the 7900 block of Corbin Avenue, where the Cybertruck collided head-on with a tree and possibly a fire hydrant, Los Angeles police reported. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) confirmed that an 18-year-old male was hospitalized in serious condition.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Arenas was placed in a medically induced coma following the crash. Details of his injuries have not been independently verified by NBCLA.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, with excessive speed being a possible factor, the law enforcement source said. Photos from the scene showed the Cybertruck’s front end severely damaged and partially wrapped around a tree.
