City Council Approves New 51-Story Building in DTLA

The Los Angeles City Council has approved Mack Real Estate Development's plan for a 51-story high-rise at 1105 S. Olive Street in Downtown Los Angeles, featuring 536 residential units and 4,178 square feet of commercial space. The project, designed by Arcadis, will replace a surface parking lot and includes a $11.5 million public benefits payment, with construction expected to take 30 months.

20-Foot Python Found In DTLA Dumpster

a 20-foot python was discovered in a dumpster at The Piero Apartments in downtown Los Angeles by resident Teresa Sanchez, who initially mistook it for a toy or taxidermy until it moved. The snake, appearing sick with a swollen mouth, was safely removed by a local reptile rescue group after animal control and police were unable to assist. The incident raised concerns among residents about pet and child safety, with questions lingering about who abandoned the python and whether it belonged to a resident of the complex.

L.A. Metro is releasing two limited-edition TAP cards honoring Nipsey Hussle as part of a new campaign that spotlights influential local figures who have helped shape the city’s cultural identity. The initiative pays tribute to artists, leaders, and trailblazers whose stories are deeply connected to Los Angeles many of whom relied on Metro transit in their early days.⁠
