FBI RAIDS OFFICE OF LAUSD SUPT. ALBERTO CARVALHO

Federal agents from the FBI executed search warrants today, February 25, 2026, at the San Pedro home and downtown Los Angeles headquarters of LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho. While the specific nature of the investigation remains under court seal, the activity was not limited to California; a third search was simultaneously conducted at a residence in Southwest Ranches, Florida, near Miami where Carvalho served as superintendent for over a decade.

The Los Angeles Unified School District has confirmed it is cooperating with the investigation, though no arrests have been made and no formal charges have been filed as of this afternoon. The raids follow a period of significant tension between the district and federal authorities, including a recent Department of Justice move to join a discrimination lawsuit against the district. Other potential areas of scrutiny include the 2024 collapse of the district's $3 million "Ed" AI chatbot project and the general oversight of federal pandemic relief funds.
