STOCKER STREET IN BALDWIN HILLS IS SET TO BECOME A HUB FOR AMPLIFYING BLACK VOICES

Stocker Street in Baldwin Hills is set to become a hub for amplifying Black voices in Los Angeles through the Stocker Street Creative project, a community-focused campus featuring soundstages, offices, and public spaces designed to support Black and Brown creatives in the entertainment industry.
This initiative, backed by 4S Bay Partners and Pantheon Business Consulting, aims to foster economic development and provide a platform for authentic storytelling by transforming a 5-acre site into a vibrant space for filmmakers and local talent. By partnering with events like the Pan African Film Festival, the project seeks to elevate Black LA voices and strengthen the cultural and creative ecosystem of the surrounding Baldwin Hills and Crenshaw communities.

The Best Sit-Down Mexican Restuarant MARISCOS CHOIX

👌: Perfect For - A night out with the family
Mariscos Choix in Downey and Pico Rivera is a seafood haven where the inside vibe, food, service, and family appeal come together for a solid dining experience. The interior is casual and inviting—bright walls, wooden tables, and a coastal charm that’s simple but clean. Downey’s spot has a lively edge with live music and a cozy, enclosed patio that’s great for any weather, while Pico Rivera keeps it slightly sleeker with a sushi bar twist. It’s not upscale—space can feel tight, especially near the kitchen—but it’s warm and functional, with a welcoming hum of conversation"
The food? It’s a standout. Fresh ceviche bursts with lime and spice, shrimp tacos are crispy and flavorful, and the scallop tostada delivers a bold, chiltepin-laced kick. Seafood platters are generous and tasty, perfect for sharing, though some note the occasional spicy dish might not suit every palate. Quality is consistent, and the freshness shines, making it a seafood lover’s go-to, even if prices can feel a touch steep for drinks like margaritas.
Service is another win—staff are friendly, quick, and eager to please, often guiding you through the menu with a smile. They handle busy nights well, though waits can creep up during peak hours. Still, the warmth keeps it pleasant. For families, it’s a great fit. The laid-back vibe suits kids and adults alike, with Downey’s music adding fun without chaos. The menu’s variety—tacos for picky eaters, crab legs for the bold—works for all ages, and the inside feels lively yet relaxed. Mariscos Choix offers a nice, family-friendly space with good food and solid service, making it a reliable pick for a tasty outing.
