$17M AWARDED FOR NEW PARK SPACES IN L.A COUNTY

The Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District awarded $17 million in competitive grants through Measure A, a voter-approved parcel tax from 2016. This funding aims to enhance and expand park spaces across LA County, resulting in the creation or improvement of 623 acres of green space—the largest parkland expansion in the district’s 31-year history. The grants were distributed to 13 recipients, including cities, nonprofits, and community organizations, with a focus on underserved areas lacking access to parks.

Officials, including Supervisor Kathryn Barger, emphasized that this investment enhances quality of life, particularly in historically underserved regions like the Antelope Valley, while addressing both urban park shortages and natural space preservation. Over half the funding prioritizes high-need communities, aiming to reduce park inequities across the county.

THE BEST TACO TRUCK IN LOS ANGELES

💰:Under $10

👌: Perfect For - Right when you get off work.

Los Originales Tacos Arabes de Puebla, parked at 3600 E Olympic Blvd in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, is a family-operated food truck famous for its Puebla-style tacos arabes. This spot blends Mexican and Middle Eastern influences, offering a unique dining experience. If you’re weighing it as a place to take your wife and kids, here’s the rundown on its food, service, family appeal, and cost.

The food is exceptional and a big draw. The tacos arabes feature spit-roasted pork, seasoned with a secret family recipe, wrapped in a thick, pita-like flour tortilla and finished with a smoky chipotle salsa. You can opt for the “especiale” with Oaxacan cheese and avocado for extra richness. Beyond tacos, they serve cemitas (Pueblan sandwiches), molotes (fried corn dumplings), and quesadillas with fillings like huitlacoche or squash blossoms. The flavors are bold yet approachable, likely a hit with adults and kids who enjoy tacos or handheld bites. Everything’s made fresh, and the quality shines through, earning it high praise as a hidden gem in LA’s taco scene.
