In July 2022, Los Angeles County officially returned Bruce's Beach — a beachfront property confiscated from a Black family (Will and Charles Bruce) through eminent domain in the 1920s under racially motivated pretenses — to the descendants of the original owners in a historic act of restitution for racial injustice.
