A $2 billion redevelopment, called Fourth & Central, has been approved for Los Angeles’ Skid Row, transforming a cold storage site into a 7.6-acre mixed-use complex.

The project will include 1,589 rental apartments (249 affordable), office space, retail, and two acres of public open space. While praised for addressing housing needs, critics worry it could drive gentrification and displace longtime residents ⁠
