WELCOME TO LOS ANGELES
Good morning. "Reality is wrong. Dreams are for real." – Tupac
IN THE NEWS
Los Angeles has overspent on its budget by almost $300 Million
Los Angeles has overspent its budget by nearly $300 million before the fiscal year is even halfway over. A big part of this overspending is due to legal costs, where the city has had to shell out over $112 million for lawsuits, much higher than anticipated.
This includes payouts for LAPD-related cases like abuse or negligence, and accidents on city property. On top of that, the Fire Department has gone over budget by more than $90 million, thanks to new labor agreements that give firefighters raises and better health benefits each year, similar to deals with other city workers.
The city’s reserve fund, meant to be a financial safety net, has also dropped to just 4% of revenues, below the usual 5% threshold. If it falls too low, it’ll require a supermajority vote to use it, which could affect the city’s credit rating and increase borrowing costs. Now, city leaders are considering cutting services and non-critical jobs to make up for the overspend, or they might have to borrow more, pushing the city deeper into debt. It’s a mess, and the City Council and Mayor have some tough decisions ahead to balance the budget without making life harder for LA residents.

NEW RESTAURANT ALERT - DAMA
Honestly, I'm still reeling from my incredible dinner experience at this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance was chic and intimate, with dim lighting and cozy decor that immediately put me at ease.
But the real magic happened when the food arrived. We ordered a bunch of different dishes to share, and each one was more impressive than the last. The whole snapper was a work of art - beautifully plated and bursting with fresh flavor. The empanadas were crispy and addictive, packed with savory goodness. And the lamb chops? Absolutely phenomenal. I'm super picky about lamb, but these were cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, and full of rich flavor.
Our server was awesome, too. Super attentive and knowledgeable, with great recs for wine and food. Speaking of which, the wine list was incredible - tons of options to suit every taste and budget.
All in all, I'm totally obsessed with this restaurant. The food, the service, the atmosphere... everything came together to create an unforgettable dining experience. Can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes!
